Hosting Information
Our goal is to support you with the very latest in training and skills enhancement whether you are active in animal care, control, disaster response or advocacy, are or part of the law enforcement community.
HSU schedules a workshop in a particular region based on a specific request that we receive from an HSUS State Director, local government or private organization, animal advocate, professional, volunteer or law enforcement official, to host that workshop.
Our workshops fall under four main categories:
- Animal Disaster Related Training
- Animal Sheltering Operations & Management Training
- Law Enforcement Training
- Other Workshops
HSU Animal Disaster Related Training includes the following workshops:
- (DART) Disaster Animal Response Training (3-day workshop)
- (EAS) Emergency Animal Shelter Training (2-day workshop)
- (AFADR) Animal First Aid for Disaster Responders (2-day workshop)
HSU Animal Sheltering Operations & Management Training includes the following workshops
- (CF) Compassion Fatigue (1-day workshop) - currently being revamped
- (HHFD) Humane Handling of Fearful Dogs (1-day workshop) - currently being revamped
HSU Law Enforcement Training includes the following workshops:
- (ACFI) Animal Cruelty and Fighting Investigations Training (1-day workshop)
- (IAF) Illegal Animal fighting Training (1-day workshop)
- (AC101) Animal Cruelty 101 Training (1-day workshop)
*Note: ACFI and IAF Law Enforcement workshops are restricted due to the confidential nature of the material presented.

- (FS/DV) First Strike (1-day workshop): Cruelty to Animals and Interpersonal Violence - currently being revamped
- Feral Cat Management:
- Communities & Colonies (Communitywide TNR)
- Caretaker Workshop

Cost Options: The Host Agency can choose from one of the three cost options, below. Rates are specific to each workshop topic and length of the workshop. Please refer to the Training Request Form for specific details.
