Application Requirements
Requirements for Applicants holding an Associate’s Degree
Students who already have an AA degree from an accredited college or university may apply for admission to HSU as an undergraduate student. Credits from the first degree will apply toward the baccalaureate program.
The application process includes:
- A completed application
- $35 application fee
- Official transcript(s) from each college or university attended mailed directly to HSU
- A resume or work history if you have not taken courses for 3 years
Once all required information is received the application for admission will be reviewed.
Requirements for Undergraduate Transfer Students
Students enter HSU with 60 or more credit hours from an accredited institution of higher learning. Admission is limited to students who have received an associate degree or completed the equivalent of at least two years of a four-year college degree program with a grade point average of 2.5 (C+) or above. Please see course catalog for more detailed information on admissions requirements. For admission to an HSU BS degree completion program, students need to have met general education requirements in previous coursework as follows:
- Writing (composition, English, or other course designated as writing intensive): 3 credits
- Quantitative Methods (Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting): 3 credits
- Natural Sciences: 3 credits
- Social Science (Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology): 3 credits
- Arts and Humanities (Arts, Literature, Foreign Language, Philosophy, Music, or Religion): 3 credits

Requirements for Applicants Holding an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree
Students who have received a bachelor's degree and/or graduate degree from an accredited college or university may apply for admission to Humane Society University.
The application process includes:
- A completed application
- $35 application fee
- Official transcript(s) from each college or university attended mailed directly to HSU
- A resume or work history if you have not taken courses for 3 years
Requirements for International Students
In addition to the standard application form and admission requirements are required to submit an international education evaluation report and may require a TOEFL.
TOEFL
International students are required to demonstrate English language proficiency appropriate for college-level study by submitting Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores at the time of application for admission.

The TOEFL requirement may be waived if:
- English is an official language of the applicant's country of origin, or
- The applicant holds a degree (bachelor's or higher) from a U.S. accredited college or university.
Photocopies or faxes of TOEFL scores will not be accepted, nor will scores older than twelve months. Scores should be submitted directly to Humane Society University (ETS School Code 2840).
