Marc Bekoff Joins HSU Faculty

World-renowned ethologist and author Marc Bekoff has joined the faculty of Humane Society University’s Department of Animal Studies. Bekoff will offer an online course in Animal Behavior, Animal Minds, and Animal Protection.
Bekoff is Professor Emeritus of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has authored or edited almost two dozen books related to animal behavior, animal welfare and animal rights. His latest book, Wild Justice, written with bioethicist Jessica Pierce, examines the continuity of morality across species in terms of their capacity for cooperation, empathy, fairness, and justice. A second and expanded edition of his Encyclopedia of Animal Rights and Animal Welfare will be published in late 2009.
Bekoff is the co-founder, with Jane Goodall, of Ethologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. He is on the Board of Directors of The Fauna Sanctuary and The Cougar Fund and on the advisory board for Animal Defenders and Project Coyote.
